The triangle shelf

Way back in July 2021, Allen Kitselman sent the final design for the triangle shelf to me.  We looked into having them built and every bid was way too high.  Time went by fast and two years and three months later here they are.  (We found a reasonable builder.)

Golden ratio much?

Romey picked out the color (and all the dark blue was repainted to match it).

These shelves are meant to display art, and we started with a beautiful original print by Emily Shepardson called Atlas Series Europe from 2019.

Inspiration for the design came from the paint cube in the corner, the stairs, and some math…oh, and the cat.

Stuttgart Art

Turns out that the Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart is an amazing place. Just a bit off the beaten path and by the big giant construction hole, the museum has a vast collection of great stuff.

By far the highlight of this visit was the special installation of Manifesto by Julian Rosefeldt. I am not a big fan of video art installations, but this one grabbed me by the attention and did not let go. Go see it if you can.

The official trailer here does not do it justice at all

But that’s not all. The museum has an extensive collection of great stuff from obscure things that you wish you had seen before to things you’ve seen 100 times but not in real life yet.

Here is my set of things to remember seeing.

So, just go visit. You owe yourself that.

Seeing Red and Blue

I think as soon as Amy saw Don Black’s painting Cadenza at the Shenandoah Arts Council space she knew I would love it. She was right.

Don Black is a jazz musician and professor turned visual artist. His work is lyrical and striking. Cadenza has a new home.
