Fashion in the Big Pickle: Karl Lagerfeld- A Line of Beauty at the MOMA

A quick hit to NY was just the right opportunity to spend a few hours steeped in high fashion.  The MOMA’s Karl Lagerfeld show is excellent.  Well curated, interesting, and aware of its own ridiculous nature.  Go see for yourself.

First, your hosts all snazzed up.  (One eagle eyed NY fashion geek recognized Romey’s vintage skirt.)

Without further commentary, some bits for the bit pile, led off by sparkle. We proceed backwards in time.

We pause now for station identification.

This interlude brought to you by Romey’s eye for high fashion.

Moma NY: The Return

We were just here in April (thanks to Bill and Lisa).  Things are just about the same, except there is now an ML exhibit curated by an algorithm.  Interesting.  Here’s what we saw.

We’ll have to come back to see the ML thing properly as we have an actual ML security event to host.

The Little Island is new NY close to the Whitney and the High Line.  Have a visit.

Which do you choose? NY? Or NJ? We’ll take them together.

The band. Naming rights remain unsold. Contact us for details.

This coat on Lisa caused the biggest splash in NY fashion.

All’s Well at the Whitney Biennial

What do you do when you’re in NYC with friends just for fun?  Well, for one thing you go to the Whitney Biennial (which you get to by walking down the High Line…but that’s another story).  The Whitney has become my favorite museum in the city.  The Biennial was interesting, but not really much more interesting than the usual stuff on display at the Whitney.  Of course, the usual stuff is usually great.

The top floor of the Biennial is downright anxiety inducing.

Are we living in a computer simulation?  Don’t ask Dave.

Fortunately, things are brighter in the sunshine.

MoMA Where Did All These People Come From?

The MoMA…can’t live with it, can’t live without it.  So many people.  But so much art.  And the food is great too.

The Mind’s Eye?  Surveillance capitalism?  Who knows.

Romey’s favorite artist, but no dice on seeing her favorite painting this visit

Not my favorite Kandinsky period

NY is always a blast to visit, but this trip was the most special NY run ever!  We are proud of our #1 son.

It was a super hot day to be in the direct sun at Yankee Stadium.  Fortunately, w all survived.

A second ceremony for the College of Arts and Sciences was held at Radio City the next day.

Sailing in New York City

Sailing was just what the doctor ordered on a sweltering day in the city (90 degrees in mid May!). Gorgeous and fun. Amy captained the boat under sail as we cruised up the Hudson.

Jack took the helm at the top of the ride.

Champagne!

Captain Barley at the helm.

No fun was had!  No fun at all.

FWIW, opening acts were August Wells and Laura Stephenson. Laura is very talented. She really only needs work on controlling the room. August Wells has a French horn.
