Naoshima goodbye.
The red pumpkin wore the first yellow light of sunset as the ferry pulled away from port. And we were off. Sunset over the inland sea was amazing.
Watch the sunset and the sunrise at the same time.
Finally the sun disappears below the horizon.
And the red turns up high over the Seto bridge.

And our day of art was complete.

We boarded at Okayama. Here is way too much video footage from the train across the Seto bridge and arriving at Takamatsu. Though we are not train buffs, per se, this train trip was extremely cool. We timed our train for sunset.

A visit to the Mori Tower at sunset is a Tokyo highlight. Watching the red lights blink on from the 54th floor is magical. Bring your own soundtrack so you can block out the loop. I listened to Phillip Glass piano works.

Sunset time for the 2024 stick, which has survived another year of climate change.
The insurance situation is absurd. I’m not sure any coverage will pay for anything anymore (though they certainly charge me as if it will). Time to self-insure? Here are pictures for insurance purposes.

Because this beach faces South, the sun can go down and the moon can come up on opposite sides of the beach.

On this day I knew the shot, the reason I brought my camera on the expedition. The day before there was a magnificent scene of the moon high over an eagles nest along the river. I wanted to capture it on “film.” This next day, I got that shot, but did not. Over the 24 hours the moon had moved more than I knew, and was beyond the nest when I arrived at the spot shown in the last photo here. That was good luck! I took photos of this and more, and as I headed home an eagle soared over me, and as I turned to watch, did 3 large 360’s over the *other* nest mounted along the river nearby. The eagle drew me back to a high perch above the nest and tree to take the first 2 photos here. It’s in there!
