Winter Solstice Fire 2015

Winter Solstice Fire 2015

It all started out with champagne, celebrating Team Tartan’s 2015 Leukemia Cup accomplishment with a crop of Timex watches. (About which this.)

Then it got dark, the keg was tapped, the cheesy xmas music was put on infinite repeat in the barn, burn barrels were lit, and off we went! Early birds got to see the bonfire lighting. Middle birds got to see music and sparkling guitars. Late birds shut down the bar inside with Berryville Passages at 6am. Are we too old for this? No we are not.

Repeal Day = Oysters, Music, and the Berryville Passage

On repeal day (82 years into the project), we gathered a set of major musicians, set up a drum kit by the bar and played some music.

By 3, it was time for a last round of Berryville passages.

We left a mess.

80 years ago today, Prohibition was repealed. I believe we will celebrate with a Berryville Passage (even though it may not be all the way legal itself).

One of these things is not (quite) like the others.

Mixology: Berryville Passage

Finally a drink worthy of publishing. Without further ado:

The Berryville Passage

1.5 Shine
.5 Dolin’s sweet vermouth
.5 Dolin’s dry vermouth
.5 Yellow Chartreuse
1 dash Fee Brothers Black Walnut bitters
1 dash Angustora

Wash a cocktail glass with smokey scotch (I am using High West Campfire Whiskey). Shake. Flame a lemon peel over the drink. Drop in peel. (Luxardo cherry optional.)
