#Nokings three with Moonie and Allen

We’ve been to three of these now and Trump is just getting worse and worse. Murdering Americans in the street? Starting a war with Iran?

If you are a Republican, get your political shit together.

This time we went to Winchester since the Clarke County dems are as weak as ever. Late stage democracy for the win?!

We were not the only math geeks.

Mr Kitselman and his sign full of action verbs.

A panoramic sweep of the protest. Probably 2000 people all told.

Moonshine loves all the people.

We made the police pose with the dog. Only one of them was friendly.

Also George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

Berryville in da house.

VIRGINIA will lead the nation AGAIN.

Moonie out of steam

We agree.

FUCK ICE. FUCK DONALD TRUMP. WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK.

#nokings: My community gathers in peace and determination with some fun

Seven million Americans are fed up enough with Republican political bullshit and its pedophile president that they showed up in force for the second peaceful protest. My little town of Berryville (population 4911) had an even bigger rally than the previous August iteration, with probably 2000 people peacefully gathered.

Not that we aren’t pissed. We are. Fuck ICE and fuck authoritarianism. We won’t stand for it in our own country. We are here to defend our rights. Like the right to decent public schooling FOR ALL.

But we are all disgusted with the gestapo tactics of DHS ICE. Those chicken shits hiding behind masks better keep their identities secret, because we will not forget what they are doing.

No Kings is mostly about NO to fascism. It’s not a joke. Its serious and so are we.

United we stand.

Well some of us sit I guess.

Here’s what the Rose Hill Park looked like during the protest.

A panorama from in front of the pavilion.

JC watches moonie.

By far the most engaging and charismatic leader to speak was Justin Fairfax. Outstanding. I will support Justin an any future races he takes on.

Justin had the crowd’s full attention.

And after he spoke, I went to let him know how much we appreciate his coming out to Berryville and got a picture with Moonshine. Moonie was wearing his “No Kings, Only Good Boys” sign again.

There were lots of great signs and a very diverse crowd.

Little dudes.

Super heroes.

Winchesterites.

But by far, once again, the most popular protester was Moonshine.

Did you know that Tru.p is still surpressing release of the Epstein files? He is likely even to start a war to escape responsibility for his disgusting pedophilia. We’re taking bets: Iran or Venezuela?

One of my favorite pictures of the protest is this policeman who agreed to hold Moonshine (and pat him) while I took his picture. His presence was in no way menacing. In fact, it was reassuring. Just for the record, our county Sheriff even had some things to say during the rally. This is a community and we all feel the same way about freedom of speech and freedom of association.

There was plenty of color.

A puppy.

The TACOs were back.

As well as chickens.

Portland inspired some inflatables. The United States stands together against the ICE Gestapo.

More dogs.

Even mean old guitar players from the Bitter Liberals.

Maybeline made an appearance as well.

Ken Mitchell batted cleanup. We will vote for Ken again.

No Kings. Period.

Pinacoteca de São Paulo in the Thunder

What do you do when you are in São Paulo on a thunderous rainy Monday (the day that much is closed)? Seek out the Pinacoteca, and experience some art.  Visit both sides with a sprint between rainstorms.

The space is beautifully assembled of old and new in contrast. The curation follows this concept and lacks only professional lighting. Brazil could use some NY light people in all of its museums.

Two views.

The exhibits are spotty, but there are always jewels to be found.

Some of the sculpture is exquisite.

Romey in a pink box.

This is not art!

Channel Emily.

And then brave the rain, walking through the huge unfamiliar trees of Brazil.

Arriving at the Contemporary building just as the power flickers and the clouds unleash.

Enter the late ’60s and the dissolution of dictatorship. Yankees out of vietnam.

BLUM!

Then have a late lunch while you wait for the rain to abate. Banana milk punch for the win.

São Paulo on the Street: Avenue Paulista

Don’t expect upscale on Paulista, no matter what the guidebooks say.  Instead, expect a street festival with crowsds, music, and the same kinds of vendors you will find in Liberdade.

Like punk bands.

And crews practicing for Rio.

Dress accordingly.

Do note that there may well be 50,000 people in the street protesting!  Actually this is rare according to our local friends who say, “They are protesting against a law which would protect members of the parliament and senate against prosecution (to an even greater extent than they are already protected).”

In any case, getting into MASP was non-trivial.  And then we were stuck in the new building since the rain caused the museum to shut down its doors and we could not switch buildings.

No Kings, Just Good Boys

Moonshine was by far the most popular protester at the Berryville No Kings rally. At least 1000 people showed up..a very impressive number in this speck of a town. And people were pissed. But they were civil.

WE WILL HAVE NO KING IN THE UNITED STATES. Moonshine says so.

Moonshine, who weighs in at 110 pounds, met a tiny little dog.

We all sang the national anthem. This is OUR fucking country.

And then a march proceeded from Rose Hill Park to the corner of 340 and Main street (just in front of Romey’s shop). Romey provided some water for the pups. Maybeline (who was at work) came out to join us as everyone walked by.

The MAGA morons may catch on yet. They are in a tiny minority.

The Last Meal

Tradition around here calls for eggs benedict on the morning when one of the kids goes back to their life.  In this case, Josie was going back to Berlin.  We’re honestly not sure when she will come back to this broken country of ours.

The eggs benedict is always delicious. Fresh eggs from “the girls” in the chicken palace make it extra special.

Canvasing for Harris in North Carolina

We tried our damndest.  The McGraw clan convened in western North Carolina outside of Black Mountain to get out the vote in a swing state.  But it was not to be.

Seeing the family was a delight.  Watching the election results was a disaster.

Lets hope the United States survives four more years of the worst President in the history of our democracy.

The choice is beyond obvious. Time to clean house and eradicate hate. Vote for Harris (if you have not already done so).
