Iulie in August

returning from a walk

Iulie has spent lots of time with us this summer. Something that we cherish. She is all farm girl, taking walks, picking vegetables in the garden, visiting the chickens, and playing with the dogs.

Iulie named the poulets: marshmallow, chocolate, graham and cracker.

We are reading The Book of Three together this summer.

Goofball.

But under the soon to be second grader is a little girl.

Iulie Turns Seven

Life goes on, especially if you are a little girl. We celebrated Iulie’s birthday in the kitchen. But first some quality time with bubbie recharging batteries.

The morning came bright and early.

After presents at home we headed over to see great grandma and share some homemade strawberry cake.

One of these young ladies lost a tooth recently.

Xmas 2024

It was very early, but the Christmooses were playing a game of chess. There was prep to be done (dressing the beast) during which blueberry muffins were whipped up.  Moonie had the best idea.

When everyone had gathered, it was present unwrapping time.  Pretty hilarious that the presents had been wrapped for less than 24 hours.

Of course there was a huge Lego set (as has become the tradition). This year it was the Eiffel Tower.

The Legos took well over four days of real effort to build.

Kilt by the tree.

Around 2, the roast was done to perfection with help from the new bluetooth thermometer. Excellent tech.

And it was time to carve the roast beast.

Odessa and Iulie joined us for dinner and stayed for movie night. All of the kids in one place! Very nice indeed.

Iulie has grown, and so have her zinias. Last time we checked, they were about two inches tall.

The tree has grown too.

Of course we walked. Twice, in fact.

The dogs were hosed off and toweled “dry.”

Bubbie had some fun things to do.

There were fresh eggs (and lots of them). 18!

And, as always, there was the rope for swinging.

Up high.

Here they come.

Mama!

Maybe always wants in on the action.

Iulie Visits her Tree

Much fun was had on the pretend farm. Lets see. We visited the tree Now taller than iulie).

We walked by the river with the crazy dogs.

We visited the baby zinias in the garden and picked a few early veggies.

We run through the sprinkler on the patio (for some definitions of we).

And we discovered the old swing rope out back.

Much fun was had.

Slightly-belated Easter with Iulie

The Easter bunny did make an appearance.

There were baskets to discover and eggs to find!

After the hunt, we enjoyed the beautiful weather outside and made chalk pictures of our own.

Don’t forget to count the loot!

Now who exactly is the Easter bunny again?!

We also dyed some eggies. The girls from the palace were happy to oblige.

Even the puppy was pooped!

But a good night’s sleep after several stories got us all rested up for pancakes in the morning.

The eggs became deviled.

While the angel checked on her tree. (Tiny tiny leaves.)

We also tiptoed through the bluebells. Well kinda.

Come again, little one.

Iulie on the Farm

We always spend time outside when Iulie comes to stay.

Iule’s tree (see this posting) with no leaves.

This time we loaded up the truck with hay bales and went to visit Donkey Hodie at his new home.

Iulie remembers Hotie.

Her favorite was the three legged goat.

Our traditional walk on the trail goes beside the Shenandoah river. Some time for quiet reflection before the walk back.

It’s a lego.

It’s not a Lego.

Interstitial tea party.

And more.

The end.
